she shashishalhem: The Sechelt Language is a description of the main characteristics of the Coast Salish language of the Sechelt People, whose ancestral territory extends from the head of Queen’s Reach in Jervis Inlet to the western entrance of Howe Sound on the southern mainland of British Columbia. This book is part of an intensive and continuing effort to preserve a knowledge of the Sechelt language for future generations of Sechelters. Designed both as a practical text for the mature student and as a source for curriculum development at all levels, she sashishalhem is addressed primarily to the student and the teacher. Linguistic and cultural material contained in the grammatixal descriptions, annotated texts and glossary will also interest the academic researcher and the general reader.
